RUFFILLA ROOM
This is a 26-sqm master bedroom: it’s the largest of the mill and it tells a unique story. All four walls are decorated with original 19th Century frescoes, painted by the same local artists, who were involved in adorning churches nearby . In exchange for food and lodging, Ruffilla had her room decorated with a seascape—a distant dream for families in the Apennines at that time.
Every detail reflects past times: custom-made furniture, an old iron washbasin with enamel pitcher and bowl, all memories of a now distant everyday’s life.
Sunset light filters through the windows and reflects on the golden bed covers, bathing the room in warm hues. A small sitting area invites moments of quiet, perfect for reading or sipping tea, while enjoying the gentle views of the surrounding hills.
The private bathroom is located in the adjacent hallway, and it is the largest bathroom in the house. A large mirror with vintage wall lights illuminates the space, while the modern sink, set on the restored base of an old sewing machine, creates a harmonious dialogue between past and present.
Access to the frescoed room is allowed for children aged 12 and over.
