MARCOLFA ROOM

A WINDOW OPEN ON THE APENNINES

The Marcolfa Room takes its name from the ancient apotropaic stone heads, called marcolfe, which have protected homes from evil spirits since the Middle Ages. In Roncorozzo, two of these figures still decorate the large fireplace on the property.

Small and essential, the Marcolfa offers the widest view in the house. From the window, the gaze stretches across the valley to Corno alle Scale and Monte Cimone, where sunsets paint the Apennines with breathtaking colors.

The room is spread over two levels, separated by a few steps. The main room hosts the double bed, while a small antechamber accommodates the single bed and an antique wardrobe. The old lightwell has been repurposed as a niche for the softest pillows.
